Pinball pix and anything I can think of

I've made a modest collection of hints and tips for Visual Pinball/VPinMAME. They are here

A very good place to start browsing the web for pinball information of all types is The Internet Pinball Database, which has

pictures, ROMs, and more about every pin ever manufactured. Note: the wonderful site The Pinball Pasture is no longer in existence.

Far and away the best commercial sims you can get are the ProPinball series:

The Web, by Empire (with downloadable demo). MacPlay is no longer their rep.

Timeshock is fancier and 'way harder. (known as "T!" to the rgp fanatics). Lots of cool "prizes" and missions.

The next two games, BigRaceUSA and FantasticJourney, are not as difficult as T!. They both have gobs of features which are theoretically possible in a physical table but which you'll never see (such as multiple pop-ups revealing sink holes, or magnets which catch and then fling the ball.).

If you don't mind using a WindBlow$ computer, then definitely get the VPinMAME and VirtualPinball software. Start at VPforum_tables.

You can get excellent recreations of real tables, from early EMs to the latest modern ones. In addition, there are tons of home-brew virtual tables. Some are cute, some are boring, but many are quite fun to play .

Two good places to find spare parts, schematics, and so on are:

The Pinball Resource, Steve Young or

Marco Industries, Marc Mandeltort

There are many other good sources, some of which specialize in solid-state games (so I don't know them well yet).

Fanatics who happen to be MacOS-ers like myself will want to get this freebie:

Gerard Putter has ported Royal Flush Deluxe (the Amt*x PC game) and made it available on DownloadRoyalFlush , which was active as of June 2005.
